Rubber Ducky for a Baby Girl's Birthday

For my first assignment, my client requested a rubber ducky design for a baby girl's birthday. Using acrylic paint on a 12x12 canvas, I painted a duck figure floating on water surrounded by bubbles. To create a pop-out illusion for the floating ducky, I painted the stripped border in hot and light pink.

The canvas is packaged and ready for my client's smile!

My First Three Canvases

After I successfully painted the letter "S" I decide to be brave and paint a small canvas. It was the same concept as the letter "S", but in a canvas form. I wanted to do 3 canvases to hang over Sofia's crib. The stencil designs I created were inspired by Sofia's crib bedding set. To start off the first canvas I began to paint it in a soft gray color. Then I stenciled the pattern design onto the canvas and painted it in white. Lastly, I painted the letter "S" in the middle of the canvas in white. I was really proud of what I had accomplished, I recreated the process for the letter "P".

After completing the first canvas, I wanted to use a similar concept, but at the same time make something slightly different. I started out by painting a new canvas in hot pink. I stenciled the letter "V" and the pattern design onto the canvas. Then I went back to color the pattern design in color white. After I finished, I felt something was missing. Again looking to Sofia's crib bedding for inspiration, I noticed the cute bird design and decided to incorporate it onto the new canvas. I proceeded to draw the bird, then stenciled the pattern on it. Afterwards I painted the bird in pink. The end products were so pretty, I was really happy with my work. I hope you enjoy them too!

It all started with the letter "S".

During my pregnancy, I had a million ideas about decorations and designs for my baby’s nursery. I started to search several websites looking for what I had in my mind for decor. I found several cute ideas, however they cost a fortune. After looking for weeks I decided I could design decorations myself. Trained as a graphic designer I acquired an eye for design, but had no exposure to painting as a medium. I initially began to experiment with a small canvas to see if I could really do it. It all began with the letter “S”, the first letter of my beautiful baby girl’s name Sofia. The stencil designs I created were inspired by Sofia's crib bedding set. Firstly, I painted the “S” in a soft gray; secondly I stenciled the design onto the letter, and finally painted the stencil design in white and the rest is history! To my surprise the project came out lovely – my personal touch added a beautiful glow to my baby’s nursery. I enjoyed making something so special for my little girl, I've decided to be brave and create more designs on canvas to share with you!
